Here in San Francisco, some people love the new plastic bag ban, and some people hate it. Early in 2012 a measure passed that means you must take your reusable bag with you to the grocery store or pay an extra 10 cents to buy one. I think it's great. Yes, it takes a little re-programming to remember to bring a reusable bag, but not much.
Plastic bags are on the Don't buy it! list anyway. They are made from a precious non-renewable resource and just end up in the landfill.
