Sugar Coated Philosophy

A peek inside my friend's medicine cabinet revealed she enjoys philosophy products. With names like "hope in a jar" and "hope and a prayer" and "purity", who could resist?

But lets take a closer look. "Purity" contains lots of very nice ingredients. But among the very last few listed are methylparaben and propylparaben. Parabens should be avoided because of their possible link to estrogen stimulation and breast cancer in women. From what I've read these studies are inconclusive. However, I want to ask: Why are these products allowed to include ingredients that are possibly connected to breast cancer? Why aren't they pulled immediately, pending further studies? Why do companies get to keep using them until they are actually proven to be harmful? Because consumers keep buying them. So, Don't buy it!

Also, be sure that your personal lubricants don't have parabens....
Yes yes yes! and check out this item from Greenpeace about phthalates in dildos and vibrators!
